Mini-Z vs HPI Micro R34

Ok i have a couple XMODS and im having fun, but not enough fun I guess you could say. ;)

Im new to the whole RC thing. About a month ago I found out about the XMODs and quickly bought one. Since then ive heard so much about the Mini-Z and how much fun they are but im not sure which direction I should go? So im here asking for advice.

I was searching threw one of the XMOD forums and found a vid of a HPI Micro R34 and the thing looked really cool. The guy was racing on a street in front of his house drifting like crazy up and down the street. Id say he was doing 30+MPH, but it's tough to judge from a vid.

I really like the XMODs and the size of them. But im sure there is better quality RC cars out there that are very similar. I think the Mini-Z is similar, but if im wrong please correct me. :D

So my question is, should I just stick with my XMODS, or purchase a Mini-Z or HPI Micro R34. I know very little about the two and not sure where to find out more info on them.

Mostly house use and some street use, Id like them to be fast and im really into drifting.

Id really be gracious to any help someone could give. :)

Thanks

hey, if youre seriously looking for quality, miniz's and micro rs4's are damn good choices... however... i would go w/ the miniz because for one: they are the same size as the xmods, if thats what you want... and the rs4's youll have to build up your chassis piece by piece vs the miniz where it all comes in one package and assembled already. the xmods and miniz could be classified as the same, but they are drastically different. i could say only the looks/size are the same. internals are waaaay different.

id go w/ the z

Hey thanks for the relpy. I thought the Micro R34 did come ready to go?

Anyone else want to add their .02? I really like more opinions please.

if you like drifting get a mini-z with a narrow body

get an iwaiver mini-z or a kyosho mr01. mro2's would be horrible for drifting.

i too own an xmod, and i agree that they arent the HIGHEST quality you can get, but you said you just got into rc's recently. i would say you should stick with the xmod and learn more on racing and upgrading IT before you move onto something more expensive to buy and upgrade. you must also keep in mind that something much different about the two is the AWD upgrade, which will make drifting a whole lot better for you. again, until you learn to race better and get the whole aspect of racing and drifting, i suggest you stay with the cheaper one as to not ruin the expensive one

Here's my two cents. You'll have a lot of fun with all three choices. However, for your money an Iwaiver(MR-01) is the best bet for your money because you can upgrade with Kyosho parts. My Iwaiver goes
25+ miles per hour with upgraded parts. I also have an Xmod and I must say it's probably the best car for a beginner. I recently added a fifth cell(Battery) and this car flies! You'll find that Xmods are more durable in crashes. The servos break very easy on Mini-z's (I broke six before getting an alloy one.) I never broke the servo on my Xmod and I've crashed it far more times than my mini-z.
As for Mircro RS4s I plan on selling mine, because I bought an X-ray.
They're fun to race, but you'll have to wait until the battery charges and they don't have much run time off of a full charge. I know alot of guys selling their bigger cars for mini-z's and xmods. Micros are more expensive to fix and more time consuming. I raced these competitivly and it's just not as fun as when I race my mini-z agaist my friends' X-mods.
