I\'m currently using the X-speed motor and i still find that it\'s a bit slow. So i\'m considering in getting a new motor without adding turbo. I\'ve been told that the Tamiya\'s Atomic Tuned motor can work without adding turbo and it\'s faster and have more torque than X-speed. Is that true? Can somebody tell me what other options do i have without adding a turbo?

u can use atomic tune without turbo or stack FET
That\'s true. Tamiya Torque-tuned and Atomic-tuned are safe to use in your Z but you have to do some modification. Buy one carbon brush to replace the original copper brush and solder 2 103 capacitors as what you see in X-speed.
Why must we replace the brush? Can you tell me what it\'s for?
Better contact with communitator and longer brush life.
So are this Atomic Tuned and Torque-tuned have more speed and torque than the x-speed?

Torque-tuned has nearly the same performance as X-Speed. Atomic should be faster.
The x-speed is just about the fastest motor you can use with the stock ESC. If you want more speed you have to get a turbo or do and FET upgrade.

Hello All,
I\'m confused so is the Atomic Tuned motor safe with No ESC modifications? Also do you have to put new brushes on the motor so it is safe to use with no ESC modifications?
This motor is just going to keep me racing with the guys at the hobby shop with x-speeds. Since its low cost it will probally become a spare once I get the ESC modified.
Thanks,
Eric

In my experience, it is found that Atomic is no problem to run in stock ESC but it is very near to the max. capacity that the ESC support.
Sorry for all the questions but should I get a Torque tuned motor instead since I will be racing on short tracks most of the time? Can the Torque tuned motor rival the x-speed in RPMs?
Thanks,
Eric
I just wanted to know if the Atomic Tuned is really safe for mini-z without turbo and whether it is faster than x-speed. I\'m scared that it might burn my ESC. Sorry to trouble you all, but i would really wanted to before it\'s too late.
SKy, I used several Atomic motors in my stock ESC but no problem found.
thanks a lot man. Do i really have to replace the brush with carbon ones?

I would like to know the same thing

Yap!
Hello Again,
All right I guess I need Carbon Brushes then. Could someone recomend a place to get them?
Also would it be a good idea to put neodynium magnets in the can? Would it draw too many amps for the stock esc?
Thanks,
Eric
There are many ways to buy carbon brushes, for examples http://www.pn-racing.com/

It is not suggested to use Neo to motors with stock ESC.
If you thirst on speed, stack FET is a good idea, you can find local source on stacking FET.
lately i\'ve been trying to put the tamiya mini 4wd motor to my mini z, i have attach 2 103 caps to the motor, but the motor wouldnt work
does anybody knows why?
what is the used of these 2 103 capasitors btw?
and if i use the custom mini 4wd motor, which i have modified the coil, will it work?
\'cuz i have dissamble the x-speed motor and the stock motor from mini z, and the different is the amount 0f the coil and the diameter of the wire....for that i have these result
1. stock motor ---70 coil/slot----0.20mm wire diameter
2. x-speed motor --- 50 coil/slot----0.30mm wire diameter
any clue?
thanx a lot guys
