a ball diff bearings would sort of help yes... the stock gear dfif basicly sucks for noise ;) since its realy loose in there and parts can move around.. the bearings will stop some of the movement in the axle as well.. so the spur/pinion mess is static and save wear on the pinions.
Try using pieces of paper and shim the motor so it does\'nt push as hard on the diff, this almost made my Z completely quiet.
Use pretty thin paper to get the best possible precition, i use a shim that is three layers thick, wich makes out to 0,21mm.
use as little paper as possible for the best results, too much and the noise lever starts to increase since the surface area on each toots gets smaller mut has to take the same load.
mainly the noise comes from too much pressure between the pinion and diff gears.
if you have the adjustable rear motor mount its easy[er] all you need is to fold up some paper to behind the motor so the grears are so tight.
if you DONT
on the little clippy thingy the holds the motor onto the motor mount there is a little spacer attacked, u can remove this by poking a paper clip though the lil hole on the other side of the clip.
then all u need to do is fold paper for the back to get the desired space between the gears and then youll need to fold some paper up for the clip to keep the motor tight and not from moving...

shimming w/ paper helps out a lot man, first take out the spacer though on the clip that holds the motor down.
