mini-Z MR01 conversion to slot car with homemade track - It works so well.

I am interested in the conversion of a mini-Z into a slotcar for having fun in small space where full RC driving is poor.

Yesterday I finally decided to modify my old MR01 to turn it into a slot car. Initially it was for my son but it worked so well that I decided to explore all kind of options.
The basic Idea was to add a pin under the front servo to guide the mini-Z in a slot. To do that I used a small screw, an antenna tube and a wheel bearing. The pin is mounted on a CF H-plate that I screw underneath the front servo using the 2 front screws that hold the servo down. The track itself is made of a 3/4" 4'x4' MDF board in which I machined a groove using a router with 1/4" cutter. The rest is cosmetic.
Eventhough the car is guided you still need the steering wheel to avoid to much drift. I even made a test where the grove splits so you could choose between two paths or switch lane and it works beautifully. I plan to do a 2 tracks 4'x8' in the next few weeks.
