I have an XMOD, but am not too impressed with it's performance, or it's durability. I think the Overland will be good for me, they look like so much fun! Is Dinball a good place to get one? They have really good prices but how much will shipping be?

Also, are there any "must haves"? Like alloy parts such as main gear and knuckles?

Thanks!

Decent Value

If you are looking at the Overland, you might consider and XMODS Evolution Truck kit. I started with Mini-Zs then got an XMODS Skyline out of curiousity. I just picked up an XMODS Evolution Hummer H2 (I've always been a Ford fan and never been a Hummer fan but didn't like the look of the F150 in orange) and am quite impressed with what an improvement it is over the original XMODS. As you probably already guessed, a 4WD kit is available, as well as a lift kit with larger tires. I was out the door of the local RS with the starter kit and 4WD kit for $75.

Just my $0.02.

Re: Hopefully getting an Overland, and have some "?s"

I feel your pain, I got into xmods before mini-z's but that wasn't before i went out and blew like 3-4 bills on the xmods....

the OL is awesome, it is drivable on carpet and such straight out of the box, which is a vast improvement over the racers, more ground clearance. with that said, much more versatile, but it is possible to spend lots more money...

as for essential parts, it depends on what you want to use the truck for...

for example by lowering it, putting lego tires on wide racer rims with a stacked FET, you can actually drift the truck on cement... (i know it sounds hard to believe, but it's true)

also there are ways you can jack it up, put giant tires on it, and climb over things....

as for parts that are broken and needed replacing... the main gear... i ate through one pretty quickly...

as for where to buy...

if i were you, i might go used at first, to make sure you like it, new they can range from 100 to 150... depending on which one...

hope that helps...
