Hi Folks, here\'s a recent press release that should be of great interest to Mini-Z, HPI and Tomy micro car hobbyists.
I\'ll post pictures of two of our pre-fab tracks in the gallery. Any feedback, positive or negative, would be appreciated as we are just finishing our manufacturing prototypes.

TechnoXtreme Introduces Porta-Trax, the World’s First Portable R/C Track
After two years of R&D, including the testing of over 50 surface and rail combinations, TechnoXtreme proudly introduces the ultimate R/C tracks …. Porta-Trax, the World’s first portable R/C Track designed specifically for the popular new 1/24th and 1/18th HPI Micro cars.
Available in two versions, the Prestige and the Weekender, Porta-Trax is ideal for hobby shops, clubs or the dedicated micro R/C enthusiast. Porta-Trax unique quick setup and portability features provides an R/C income opportunity for birthday parties, special events racing and even setup in shopping malls, by allowing you to set up quickly almost anywhere, indoors or out.
Introductory priced at just $999 US for the 10’ x 20’ model, Porta-Trax Prestige combines the ultimate in realism with unmatched durability and true portability for a cost of less than $5 per square foot. Our second model, the budget priced Porta-Trax Weekender is priced at just $3.00 per Sq. ft., including all rails, braces, detailing and storage case.
• Unparalled Realism and Functionality: The Prestige features a high-traction, rubberized ultra realistic 1/2”racing service that assembles in just half an hour and closely resembles full-scale race course concrete. Designed to simulate actual track physics, the Prestige rewards a proper car setup, yet is very forgiving to beginners.
• Fully Portable: Each 10’x10’ section of Porta-Trax Prestige consists of 25 interlocking pieces that fit in to a custom carrying box, complete with wheels. (20’x10’ Prestige pictured packed in two cases). And the ultra-light Porta-Trax Weekender easily packs into one or 6-foot tubes.
• Durable Construction: Unique double-channeled bracing and ABS DuraFlex rails are designed to protect and contain cars with just the right amount of flex and shock absorption to avoid car damage. Yet Porta-Trax’s impact-engineered bracing will withstand a full speed 1/18th scale impact without dislodging.
• Easy on Cars and Tires: Designing a high friction coefficient track usually meant using a gritty surface that’s hard on tires and cars. Not so with Porta-Trax! Soft, micro-grained rubber (Prestige model) offers just the correct amount of adhesion, while absorbing shock and preserving tires. The Weekender uses the renowned Ozite Racing Carpet for a base, a medium traction, no-shed surface that’s fast and quiet.
• Weather Resistant: The Prestige can be setup indoors or out and its rubberized surface is very resistant to rain – we’ve weather-tested the Prestige during the heaviest of thunderstorms to simulate real-world sudden weather changes. The Weekender is designed primarily for indoor use, but can be used outdoors and is water resistant.
• Expandable: Both the Prestige and the Weekender can grow to accommodate any desired track size; simply add more track panels and rails. Each track comes without at least three different layouts Optional upgrades such as lap timing software, speed traps and night lighting are available to further enhance the realism and functionality.
The Weekender features the same rail system as the Prestige, but with a genuine Ozite Daytona Racing Carpet base for the ultimate in roll-up portability. Ozite Daytona Racing Carpet, a proven track surface with no carpet fiber shedding to worry about offers superior traction yet is very lightweight. Set up time for the Weekender is less than 15 minutes for a 10’x 20’ track. A complete 20’ x 10’ Weekender track weighs less than 40 lbs, so it’s easy to transport and setup with just one person.

I agree the porta-trax looks cool, but too pricy IMHO. My question is how much would you be willing to pay for a high-quality changeable / portable mini z race track? Would $300 US dollars be too much for a 20 ft by 20 ft racing surface? My understanding is that most \"fixed\" basement tracks cost nearly $300 anyway. So if it could be done for about $300 wouldn\'t it be worth the price? Just throwing it out there for discussion.
