The more teeth on your pinion the higher your top end is but your acceleration is slower. The less teeth you have the faster your acceleration but slower top end. For a stock motor I would use a 5 or 6 just because its top end isn't much anyways. A big motor I suggest using a larger pinion because if you don't you'll just get a lot of wheel spin. I comes down to what you like better, High top end or Fast acceleration.
depends all on the track youre racing on and youre style of driving... on extremely curvey tracks, i tend to go w/ 7t, normally i run 8t on reg tracks, but on oval tracks ill use 9t and up depending on the surface and races specs
Basically, this question is best answered with the SSV.3 if you have a fet upgrade. You can use any gear you want without any compromise of top or bottom end. It works well with all pinion sizes from 6 - 9 tooth, and even ten.
How many teeth do you like for your pinions? I have a 5 on right now, I never tried out 6,7, or 8 yet.
Who makes a 5T? Do you mean a 6T? Currently, I'm using a 7T with an NMLv3 and a 9T with an X-Speed. At the local track when there was one, I was using a 7T with an X-Speed, but my track has a 40' straight and the local track wasn't that long. I was also using a higher degree tire then too.

i agree with purple ducky. it depends on what type of track. I really like 9 tooth indoors, and 8 tooth for anywhere else.
I run a 6-tooth with an x-speed, and it is a little too much torque. If I pull the trottle a little too hard through a turn, I'll just spin out.

I use a 7 tooth with the stock motor in my mro2. It works pretty well, but It would be better with an x-speed.
youhave the most accel with 6 tooth but still depends on the type of driving your doing
