Rear main shock helps with rear bounce(Keeps your wheels on the ground so you can go faster) and Side shocks help with rear roll(helps you turn much better). I have them both and suggest you get them both too. They are really cheap if you get them off eBay. Oh yea, you can tell a big difference with them.
I've been running with rear damper and roll shocks since day one (ordered them at same time as car). Last week I did major cleaning of car and took off all shocks to get at PCB area, which was full of dust, etc. Was lazy and didn't feel like reinstalling shocks when I was done so I just used my stiffest H plate and ran it. Car ran and handled as good as it does with the shocks installed. Made me wonder how important the shocks are. With plastic stock Hplate I can see the need, but with a stiff CF one or an O plate I wonder...
in leisure play, you really cant tell a different in handling. but in competition racing, roll shocks will give you that added edge, stiffness and support in the corners. plus it also depends what surface you are racing on.

i have the roll shock dampers on my mr-01 and they work wonders
i have the side roll damper shoock and they do actually improve corning in aHIGH speeds, low speed you wont notice a diffrence.
