Yeh, it is. It runs on carpet and any other surface the Mini-Z car won\'t run on, has some very nice suspension which makes it great over jumps, though having said that i tend to use mine in low ratio for climping over obstacles.

On the up side, it comes with all sizes of suspension mounts (good if you want to fit custom bodies), a diff lock plate (which makes all the difference when low gearing over stuff), they are very tough (i\'ve rolled mine off the top of some very large stuff, it\'s still going) and there are plenty of hop-ups if you want to tune-up.

On the down side, it\' ground clearance is\'nt that great (though i have found a simple way to cure this, there will be some plans soon), it is not actually four wheel drive (but with the diff-lock plate instaled its still good over the rough stuff), trying to design a reliable 4x4 drive system at this small scale would probably be very expensive, that would make the models final price even higher (think they are costly enough as it is).

I forked out the cash, made some cheap mods and i\'m pleased with the result.......

Go buy one, nothing wrong with owning two Z\'s.......

I had a couple mini z cars and got the overland because it's cool and I thought it'd be fun. Man that's an understatement! I don't even have a desire to drive the cars now. The overland goes on raod and off road and does both fairly well.
I'm constantly looking for or finding new things to drive the overland on over or through. I even made a little trail in my back patio with boards to drive across, a rock section and even a little rope bridge made from sticks. Extremely versatile rig. I take mine wiht me everywhere, you never know where a new cool place to drive will pop up.
I think its worth every penny. I've ran dozens of runs on mine so far, nearing abusive treatment and haven't broken a single part yet.
Nice rig indeed. :D

I would get one...their not just go fast and turn left.(sorry to much nascar). You can climb, jump and crawl. Its fun and addictive. You can also upgrade and mod the heck out of them.

GO FOR IT

Is it worth it?
That's a good question with an even better answer....YES!
Your Mini-Z can't do this....

Ok question: can you put in an external turbo? Because I would be interested in some really powerful motors. I want to have a lot of torque.

Hi,

I am also a new overland owner. My opinion is depending on your expectation. Overland is truly an exquisite gadget having good engineering design and high fabrication standard.

It runs very fast. Maybe, it is comparable to other normal "z" runners. It boasts high ground clearance (comparatively) and cute familiar off roader look.

If you play it cherishingly, it's fine. But never expect it to perform stunt action like vaulting on hard service. If you do, you will find many plastic parts broken due to sudden high stress. It costs you lots of money to buy spare parts!

Surely, it is more funny than normal "z" runners.

Jab.

Loads of fun...

I have an MR-02 that was my first Mini-Z. I love it, but it's hard to drive on smooth surfaces, or real bumpy ones.

I lucked into a deal on two Overlands, and they are fun! Very tough, work well on carpet, and with a medium gear and an X-speed will trounce my friends IWAVERs on asphault or smooth concrete.

I made a couple jumps out of cardboard, and it's a tough little booger I'll say that.

Because of their extra suspension and more controlled rear end than the mr-01, they're soo much easier to drive. They powerslide much more controllably because of the softer suspension, and they lean over, which is cool. :p

I got the pajero (road version), and it looks really good with that glosscoat body (much more durable paintwork).

Only gripe is the controller (KT-5) looks about 15 years old. Since it has braking built in (hit back once for brakes, double tap for reverse), it more than makes up for that lack, and makes me wish my mr-01 could do that too! I think it's possible to swap the receivers over though...
